At the Exploratorium, visitors can attempt to high-five themselves in the giant mirror. The mirror has a concave, spherical shape which focuses light about 5 feet away from its surface. Therefore, when standing closer than 5 feet to the mirror, you cannot see yourself. When 5 feet away from the mirror, you are magnified, but you get more blurry as you get farther away from the mirror. This is why objects in the distance appear blurry. You also move the opposite direction in the mirror due to the concavity of the mirror. For example, if you walk to your right, in the mirror you move to your left. This mirror was interesting and I had a fun time trying to high-five myself!
