Exploratorium: Exploring Human Sense of Touch

The exploratorium contained more exhibits than I knew what to do with! There were activities relating to physics; human senses, emotions and habits; living systems and the San Francisco Bay area. My favorite activity related to human senses, particularly that of touch. For example, one activity explored touch receptors with coiled metal. The coils switched from warm to cool, creating an interesting sensation when touched with one's entire hand. When touched with an entire hand, the coils felt extremely hot, and I immediately pulled my hand away! But, when I touhed each coil individually, their temperatures were very mild. The exhibit explained that the human body reacts this way when it is confused by two very different stimuli in an effort to gather more information. I thought this was extremely interesting and truly enjoyed confusing my senses!
